indevis E-Mail Encryption offers an automated service for encrypting and signing your e-mails. In this way, compliance rules are also adhered to, because valuable data can only be read by the right recipient. In order to provide comprehensive communication protection, indevis offers an e-mail encryption service as an add-on to the e-mail security service, through which e-mails can be encrypted, decrypted and signed according to a set of rules previously defined for different user groups. E-mails are sent and received via the indevis E-Mail Encryption Gateway and encrypted and decrypted according to the S/MIME standard. The text and attachment of an outgoing e-mail are encrypted with a public key – the recipient's certificate. Emails arriving via the indevis Email Encryption Gateway are decrypted with the recipient's certificate and forwarded to the email server. Outgoing e-mails can also be provided with a digital signature. This ensures integrity and prevents third parties from manipulating the content of the email. The signature is made using a sender's certificate stored on the indevis E-Mail Encryption Gateway.

Incoming, signed e-mails are checked for authenticity using the signature, with the recipient being warned if the signature is incorrect.
