Cyberattacks often target vulnerabilities of infrastructures and software environments, specifically jeopardizing the secure and reliable operation of all services and organizations built on them. For new, unknown vulnerabilities, visual and interactive forensics takes an important role in analyzing cyberattacks on this infrastructure and data worth protecting to prevent further damage. To achieve higher levels of security and privacy, large amounts of data need to be processed and visualized in the best possible way for specific cybersecurity applications wherever human experts are also required. For this purpose, visual analytics methods that combine algorithms of automatic data analysis and machine learning with appropriate visualization methods to enable user group interaction with these data sets have proven to be effective. The talk will provide insights into current possibilities of visual analytics in the area of visual-interactive analysis of network data, visualization of global geo-IP routes, privacy analysis for users of online services, and visual analysis of software vulnerabilities. ... read more
