In last year's report on the threat situation in cyberspace, the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) came to the conclusion that the threat is higher than ever before. The damage caused by cybercrime in 2023 is estimated at over 200 billion euros. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular, as well as local authorities and municipal businesses, were attacked disproportionately often.
Companies of all sizes should therefore take out financial protection against losses in connection with hacker attacks or other acts of cybercrime at an early stage. However, the cyber insurance market is large and it is often not easy to define the required benefits on the basis of which the right insurer can be filtered out.
