This talk by Jake Davis will focus on hackers and hacker culture, looking at how they sit within the wider security landscape and how companies, governments, and individuals respond to perceived threats and politically-motivated hacking, and how these perceptions have evolved over the years, for better or worse. I'll also talk about my experience in the Anonymous hacking collective and how, a decade later, hacktivism is returning and gaining popularity through unexpected modern apps like TikTok. Much of this keynote will be improvised based on hearing many other it-sa speakers, with an aim to bring an authentic hacker culture perspective to the topics that arise throughout the event.
