Abstract:  Asymmetric and symmetric encryption remain complementary pillars of modern IT security. While asymmetric encryption dominates edge deployments, symmetric encryption is critical for performance-sensitive or smaller-scale scenarios. However, both face existential threats from emerging quantum computers. At the edge, post-quantum cryptography strengthens existing protocols, while for business-critical services, entanglement-based quantum key distribution—drawing on Nobel Prize-winning research—enables secure teleportation of symmetric keys between data centers. zerothird (0/3) is the first company to implement this revolutionary technology at scale, offering quantum-secure communication to enterprise customers today.
