Digitalized and networked systems, machines, actuators and sensors create great potential for more added value, profitability and new business opportunities. At the same time, however, attack vectors for malware and targeted attacks are emerging - the risk of operational disruptions or even production downtimes that threaten the company's existence is increasing. The new digital functionality and connectivity must therefore be backed up by comprehensive protection against the associated digital threats.

secunet edge addresses these and other challenges of edge computing as a complete solution comprising platform and applications. The platform consists of a software and a hardware part. The software comprises a hardened operating system with a secure application environment. The hardware of the platform consists of industrial PCs (IPCs) and security components built into them.

secunet offers software and hardware as appliances. Suitable applications are available both from secunet and from partners.

The use of widely used basic elements such as an Intel x86 processor, Debian Linux and a Docker-compatible virtualisation environment ensures maximum compatibility with existing IT and OT infrastructures. secunet edge can do what an edge solution must be able to do - but it is also cost-efficient, convenient and premium secure.

All components of the overall solution will be demonstrated in the lecture and played through using customer examples.
