It is and remains easy to break into networks. An attacker just has to find a way to get in. But it should be hard for attackers to move around the network once they are inside. Any move could make them visible.
Unfortunately, that is not the case today. Attackers often spend months in our networks and we have tried in recent years to draw our defences further inwards, but all this only gets us so far.
The Secret Service has developed a security architecture for the White House that is very convincing and can also be applied to our networks.
