Action description

Making the German economy more cyber-secure and resilient in the fight against cyber attacks - this is the idea behind the Alliance for Cyber Security (ACS). Ten years ago, the ACS, Germany's largest public-private partnership for cyber security, was launched by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and the IT industry association Bitkom.

As the national cyber security authority, the shapes information security in digitization through prevention, detection and response for the state, business and society. Ten years ago, the following was still true for the business sector: companies in the area of critical infrastructure were already paying special attention to the importance of information security due to their significance in securing their existence. A large proportion of German companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), had to be gradually sensitized to cyber security. Cyber attacks were a rather abstract threat in the eyes of many company managers in the 2000s. But with increasing digitization and the progress of technological developments, a multitude of new risks and threat situations for all companies have come and are still coming.

A successful, growth-oriented company will therefore now invest in digitization as well as resilience of its own systems and promote the networking of people and devices. An important success factor here is the security of information systems, because complex cyber attacks are among the greatest threats to the German economy. Cyber criminals cause severe damage worth billions of euros every year - which is why prevention, resilience and secure emergency management are the prerequisites for a successful digital future.

One of the tasks of the Alliance for Cyber Security is to guide the target group's perspective on the issues and make them aware of the risks. To this end, the ACS offers companies the opportunity to benefit free of charge from the strengths as well as the immense expertise in the field of information security of the network of participants, partners and multipliers of the Alliance for Cyber Security. In this way, everyone contributes to the common goal: increasing cyber security in Germany as a business location!
