Action description

The presentation covers the following topics relevant to CyberCrime Incidents:
The crucial steps after a CyberCrime incident are presented. From the quick backup of the data and the isolation of the affected systems to the communication with the law enforcement authorities, to recovery and precautionary measures, there are empirical values and special features that it is important to know.

In the lecture, the question should be clarified as to whether and in what form an exchange with the police, the perpetrators or the insurance company should take place. In the last few decades, special features and empirical values have developed for the communication of the above-mentioned bodies. External communication can also be part of successful interaction. In addition, the data protection reporting obligations are dealt with by the responsible data protection authorities, compliance with which is mandatory by law. There are also experiences from those companies that have commissioned professional data recovery services as well as from companies that have restored the data from their own backups. It is also crucial that the police receive all the important information so that the investigation process and thus rapid clarification is given the best possible support. The provision of future attacks should also be mentioned in the presentation. A thorough vulnerability analysis and the introduction of new protective measures, if necessary, should better protect the data. Another step can be to raise employee awareness. Since experience and best practices are valuable in cybercrime incidents, sharing insights is a good idea for everyone involved. If time permits, an exchange of experiences should take place after the lecture.

Fast, skillful action, cooperation with the authorities and the implementation of protective measures are crucial to minimize the effects and prevent future attacks.
