Action description

The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) continuously evaluates the situation with regard to information security in Germany. The following can currently be determined:
Advanced Persistent Threats (APT) are on the rise. More and more APT groups are scanning the Internet for known vulnerabilities in perimeter systems that have not yet been patched in order to be able to target them.
Dealing with vulnerabilities - especially in products that are widely used and have high market penetration - is and remains one of the greatest challenges of information security as the basis for successful digitalization.
Overall, the trend towards advanced attacks in cyber crime continues. In the context of ransomware attacks, double extortion, encryption and disclosure of data, has become the norm in blackmail.
BSI advises against ransom payments! "Companies that paid ransoms to have their data decrypted further doubled their recovery costs."
The overall cyber security situation - also in the context of the war of aggression against Ukraine - continues to be characterized by hacktivism and knowledge of the activities of APT groups. The increasing networking of IT infrastructures and dependencies in the supply chain further increase the attack surface.
