When a cyber disaster threatens to paralyze a company, completely new tasks suddenly arise that are extremely important and urgent. Employees, business partners, law enforcement agencies, cyber insurance providers, stock exchange and financial regulators must all be kept up to date. Incident response must be coordinated with internal and external parties. The press must be provided with updates that show the company in a favorable light. At the same time, however, the organization's ability to act in a crisis is severely limited – the usual communication channels usually rely on systems that have fallen victim to the attack or are controlled by the attacker. Creating a completely new communication landscape in a crisis is rarely possible.
