European cybersecurity regulation has reached a decisive turning point: NIS2 is now in force in Germany, while the Cyber Resilience Act is placing greater emphasis on manufacturer responsibilities and product security. Yet there remains a gap between regulatory requirements and genuine production resilience. OT environments combine long system lifecycles, restricted patching windows, heterogeneous assets and numerous external service connections with one overriding priority: production must remain safely available.

This ten-minute management talk therefore does not present another compliance checklist. It begins with a simple question: “Who holds the keys to your production right now?”
