Operators of critical infrastructures (KRITIS) must prove that their IT security is state of the art at least every two years in accordance with Section 8a BSIG. This proof is based on corresponding security audits, tests or certifications. These provide KRITIS operators with objective confirmation that they have taken appropriate organizational and technical precautions in accordance with the state of the art and meet the BSI's requirements for a minimum level of IT security.
