Identity & Access Management (IAM) has received an enormous push of attention in the last two years, both pandemic-related and technology-driven. Terms such as identity security, remote work, work from home, zero trust, multi-factor authentication, APIs and DevSecOps are discussed by information security experts worldwide and are also omnipresent at it-sa 2022. However, digital identities have long been connected not only to people, but also to machines as so-called machine identities. Cloud environments and especially multi-cloud environments as well as containerisation and the associated connection between information security and software development increase the complexity of IAM projects. Budgets and awareness have grown due to digital transformation and the threat environment, yet experts do not grow on trees. This dichotomy and the fast pace of IT bring a meta-level to the discussion.
What is the status quo of this sub-area of information security and which aspects get short shrift in the current debate? What does the near future look like, what trends will the industry face after 2022? The participants, all experts from the IAM environment, want to explore these questions and formulate initial answers.
